Ms. Jessie May Arn was born April 17, 1934 in Cloverdale, OH and died at age 88 in Greensboro, NC on November 15, 2022. A service to celebrate her life will be at 12:30 PM, November 27, 2022 at Archdale First Church of God, 7009 Weant Road, Archdale, NC 27263 officiated by Pastor Hallie Scott. Guests are invited to a luncheon in the church following the service.
Jessie was born in Cloverdale, OH, one of five children to the late William Henry and Irma Evelyn Britsch Arn. She lovingly raised six children who survive her and blessed her with nine grandchildren who continue her legacy with twelve great grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses, Debbi and Daniel LaRue of Greensboro, NC, Steve Nanchoff of Lima, OH, Toni Hughes and Denny of Wapakoneta, OH, Pat and Angie Jackson, Julie Jackson and Kathleen Ash all of Lima, OH. She was loved by her grandchildren, Nicholas LaRue, Jarod LaRue (Robin), Thomas Seffernick, Benjamin Seffernick (deceased, surviving wife, Renae), Journey Seffernick, Jozie Seffernick, Seth Jackson, Jesse Ash and Drew Ash (Tia); twelve great grandchildren; brother, Rudy Arn and wife Betty and half- brother, Paul Selhorst. In addition to her parents and grandson, Jessie is preceded in death by an infant son and her siblings, Ruth Giovinazzo, Mildred Fish and Emma Keiser.
She was a member of Archdale First Church of God and formerly of Gardendale Church of God, in Lima, OH and enjoyed her Sunday school classes at both churches. She was a waitress for 50 years and served in the home health care field before the last few years of waitressing. She said she would have liked to be a pioneer in the old west and was an avid reader of romance novels, Zane Grey novels, the daily newspaper and the People magazines that she had subscribed to since its inception in 1974. Jessie was a fan of the Ohio State University and liked to watch golf. She loved Kewpee hamburgers. She loved to play rummy and taught the game to her children, grandchildren and a couple of the guys at Wellspring respite care and her love of euchre was taught and shared with Denny, Steve and Toni. Jessie sewed some of her kids' clothes while they were growing up and continued sewing at Wellspring with her good friend, Barbara and made a couple of special gifts. She voted since she was first eligible, thought it important to exercise your right to vote and was very proud of the fact that she voted every chance that she got until missing a couple of times in the last couple of years.
Her family would like to thank and acknowledge the nurses at Cone Hospital, especially, Caroline, Alicia (NP), Gladys and Haylee. The same with some of the CNA's at Ashton Health and Rehab, especially Pah, Brooklyn and Anthony and the nurse, Lashonda. She had a very special NP prior to Ashton who was Vickie Henson.
