Janet Cookman Reid

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel, located at 1900 Vanstory St., in Greensboro. Following the visitation, a memorial service, celebrating Janet's life, will be held at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.

Janet was born October 9, 1936 in Evanston, IL. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Janet graduated from New Trier High School (IL) in 1954, attended Iowa State and Lake Forest College. After working most of her life, she retired from McPherson Meistergram in Greensboro. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee Lawrence and Marjorie Carr Cookman; brother, James W. Cookman; sisters, Ann Cookman Mueller and Mary Cookman Sallander.

Janet is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roy F. Reid; her son, David R. Reid (Sonya); her daughter, Susan L. Reid; granddaughter, Karyn A. Reid; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Janet enjoyed life to the fullest and was considered a great friend. She was always helping others and was very proud of her volunteer work with the Potter’s House Community Kitchen.
