James "Jim" Alan Stanford

Jim was born April 2, 1937, the son of Charles Herbert Sr. and Bessie Rush Stanford, and was a native of Randolph County. He attended Liberty High School and Lees McRae College and worked as a chemical technician at Lorillard Research Center in Greensboro for 37+ years until he retired in 2000. Jim’s belief in God was strong and he enjoyed playing golf, reading, and being with his family and friends, particularly when at the beach.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Frances Terry Stanford; two daughters: Laura Stanford Walker (Shawn), and Jenny Stanford; his son, Kirk Stanford (Carmen); his brother William Stanford of Liberty; his nieces and nephews; and grandchildren: Leighton Walker, Christian Walker, Klei Stanford, and Harlem Stanford.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Betty Young of Liberty, and his brothers, Charles, Joseph, and Paul Stanford.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday September 16, 2023, at the Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel located at 6000 W. Gate City Blvd. in Greensboro, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's memory to Alzheimer’s Disease Research.
