Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel at 11:00 am. A private interment will be held at Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury, NC.
Jim was born in Elizabeth City, NC to the late James Carlyle and Ester Smith Prescott. He was a 1955 graduate of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He served in the US Army for two years, and then worked for Prescott Products, his family business. He then entered East Carolina and received his MS in Clinical Psychology and earned his PhD from the University of Georgia in Clinical Psychology.
Jim worked for the Guilford County Health Department prior to starting his practice as a clinical psychologist with Heiney, Prescott and Springs. He then worked as a consultant with Greensboro College and other local agencies.
Jimmy loved Carolina basketball, football, and tailgating. He was a member of the Rams Club for more than thirty years. He also enjoyed fishing, the beach, particularly Nags Head and developing computer programs. He especially enjoyed his dogs and spending time with his family who will miss him very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis Grubb Prescott and brother, Douglas Prescott. He is survived by his children Pam Broome and husband Tol of Greensboro; and Jim Prescott, III of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Baker and husband Michael, John Broome, III, and Marianna Broome.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue Greensboro, NC 27405 in memory of James C. Prescott, Jr.
