James Elliott Lewis

James Elliott “Sonny” Lewis passed away on Monday, October 10, 2011 at High Point Regional Hospital.

He was born on August 18, 1934 in Lumberton, NC. Mr. Lewis was retired from the insurance industry as a salesman. He attended Wake Forest University following high school. In September 1961 he was honorably discharged from the United States Navy. Sonny was a member of Jamestown Presbyterian Church. He and his wife Marilyn were married for 55 years.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Lewis is survived by his daughters, Kim Lewis Cobb and husband Jim of Jamestown and Karen Lewis Scott of Raleigh; grandchildren, Elliott and Alec Cobb; and a sister, Judi Thompson and husband Mack of Lake Waccamaw.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Jamestown Presbyterian Church with the Reverend John Muse officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
