Born June 3, 1928, to the late Ernie and Pearlie Jane Jackson, in Sampson County, NC, he was one of ten children. Robert was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, having served in Japan and Stateside from 1947-1956. He served in the honor guard for President Harry Truman on several occasions. He was a welder by trade and was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union #421. Robert was also a member of Palmyra Masonic Lodge #147 in Dunn, NC, for 74 years. He loved animals, (especially his grand-dog, Trinity), fishing, Wake Forest University Sports, The Grand Old Opry and Blue Grass Music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Joyce Stone Jackson; sisters, Ellen Gray and Trello; and brothers, Bruce, George, Jimmie, E.B. and Quinton (killed in WWII).
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Denise Jackson Creef (Tim); sister, Magdalene West of Dunn, NC; brother, Jack Jackson of Pleasant Garden, NC; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
