Mrs. Helen Louise Hart Redding, 87, of Gibsonville, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Friday, December 13, 2013 at Wesley Long Hospital following a lengthy illness.
A funeral service will be held Monday, December 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel officiated by Pastor Larry Andrews. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
Helen was born August 14, 1926 in Fayetteville, the daughter of Isaac William Hart and Mary Gregory Hart. She attended Junction Baptist Church and formerly worked at Wesley Long Hospital as an aide. Helen will be remembered for her infectious sense of humor and ready laugh, her positive outlook on life and no-nonsense demeanor in her kitchen. She loved spending time with her family and trips to the beach, fishing (freshwater and ocean), playing bingo, the Senior Center, making pancakes for her grandchildren, and Southern cooking.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Charles Harold Redding; and her siblings, Viola Hart Duggins and Billy Hart.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Joyce Redding Wilkie of Gibsonville and Darlene Kay Redding of the home; sons, Robert Redding, Joe Redding and wife Beverly and Dr. Richard Redding and wife Genie, all of McLeansville; sisters, Gertrude Hardy of Greensboro and Naomi Thompson and husband Richard of McLeansville; grandchildren, Richard Honeycutt and wife Melissa, Robin Wilkie, Mary Ann Watson and husband Jeremy, Matthew Redding and Julie Nickle, Benjamin Redding and wife Heather, Eric Redding, Jason Redding and wife Heather and Dustin Redding; great grandchildren, Christopher Runde, Tristin, Megan and Abigail Honeycutt, Gabriel and Kaya Redding, and Makayla and Evie Watson; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
