A devoted wife and aunt, Mrs. Vanstory’s first priority and most important job in life was supporting, caring for, and providing a home for her husband and extended family. Her devotion to her family began as a young girl when she looked up to her older sister with whom she shared a close and very special relationship. She was caring and supportive of her parents in their elder years, and very devoted to her husband of 44 years. She found joy in her great-nieces, nephews and granddaughter and loved spending time with and caring for them. Whenever possible she was present at their activities. She rarely missed a basketball game, a concert, a school event, a ballet performance or a horse show. She taught French, Spanish, and English for 27 years in the Burlington City and Guilford County school systems. Her life lessons in teaching touched many students and she was able to keep in contact with many of them through the years.
Mrs. Vanstory was a kind, generous, and compassionate individual. Ever the organizer and consummate hostess, she served many leadership roles in her community and was very devout in her religious beliefs.
