Frances Marie Smith

Frances is survived by her one and only son, Steve Shelton (wife Laura) and grandchildren (Kailyn, Clay and Carson). She is also survived by her younger brother Charles Smith (wife Lana) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Mary Ruth Simmons and Lucille Alley and her older brother Harry Smith.

Frances was fiercely devoted to her son Steve Shelton and three grandchildren. Her favorite past time was watching her grandchildren participate in many sports including football, baseball and basketball. She herself was a standout basketball player at Colfax High School, Colfax, NC.

Fran was a natural leader and was known by many as the Manager at the Sears Roebuck and Company in Greensboro, NC. She also enjoyed her many friends at the YMCA where she co-led a water aerobics class for many years.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aides that cared for Fran at Country Side Manor, Stokesdale, NC. Fran will be greatly missed and forever loved by her family.

There will be a Celebration Of Life Service at the graveside 12:00 pm Monday 1/31/2022 at Westminster Gardens Cemetery, 3601 Whitehurst Rd., Greensboro, NC 27410
