Elizabeth Cooper Trotter “Betty Anne”, 85, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Beacon Place.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, 1:00 p.m., at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
Born March 4, 1929 in Greensboro, Betty Anne was the daughter of the late Seaton Norwood Cooper and the late Lucille Smoak Cooper. She attended St. Mary’ s Junior College in 1945, and later graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill.
After raising her family in Greensboro, she began working for the American Red Cross where she was the Director of Service to military and veterans. She initiated the beginning of the Greensboro chapter’s weekend emergency coverage.
Betty Anne was an avid gardener who loved flowers and nature. She became a master gardener. She also made time to be an active member of the Greensboro Garden Club, Greensboro Study Club, Greensboro Debutante Club and the Greensboro Junior League. Betty Anne was also active in her community and enjoyed volunteering.
She is survived by her children, Wilson Davis Trotter Jr., Seaton Cooper Trotter and wife Betty, Hunter Smoak Trotter and wife Ruth- Ellen and Lee Trotter Dixon and husband Richard; grandchildren, Wilson Davis Trotter III and wife Jill, Wesley Gray Trotter and wife Eve, Abbott Lee Trotter, Sarah Elizabeth Carpenter and partner McClain, Laine Carpenter Rendleman and husband Drew, Seaton Cooper Trotter Jr., Hunter Smoak Trotter Jr., Ryan Ferrell Trotter and wife Ashley, Lynnsey Ann Brooks Trotter, Elizabeth Grace Trotter, Elizabeth Cooper Dixon, Richard Williams Dixon Jr.; great grandchildren, Ella James Rendleman, William Cooper Rendleman, Britt Elizabeth Trotter, Grady Ferrell Trotter and Olivia Grace Trotter.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Haywood Duke Room at the church.
