Edwin Michael Fleming

Edwin Michael Fleming passed away on March 23, 2024 at his home in Greensboro, NC, surrounded by family. Ed was born on September 19, 1936 in Franklinton, NC, to Edwin F. Fleming and Leola J. Fleming. He was predeceased by his wife, Joe Ann Patterson Fleming, and his sister, Sylvia Fleming Hockaday.

Ed was a 1954 graduate of Franklinton High School and graduated from East Carolina College in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. While enrolled at East Carolina College, he had the good fortune of meeting Joe Ann Patterson, a new NC Board Registered Nurse. They were married in 1957.

Upon graduation, Ed worked for the Commercial Credit Corporation in Kinston, NC, and transferred to Greensboro, NC, in 1965. Ed retired from Commercial Credit in 1998. Upon retirement, Ed and Joe Ann traveled regularly and set out on 30 day motor trips, enjoying numerous locations in the USA and Canada. "Two people enjoying our country & each other".

Ed was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church and attended the Austin Fortney Sunday School class. He enjoyed numerous activities including golf and fishing.

He is survived by 3 children: Bonnie Fleming of Greensboro, NC; Michael Fleming Jr. (Carol) of Randleman, NC; and Christopher Thomas Fleming (Lisa) of Pleasant Garden, NC. Surviving grandchildren are Rebecca Rice (Michael); Thomas Britton Fleming (Allie); Kelly Elisabeth Fleming; Leigh Ann Fleming; along with a great granddaughter, Elizabeth Lane Fleming.

A graveside service is scheduled for March 28, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Guilford Memorial Park, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC. Following the service, the family will receive friends.
