Dolly Campbell Jacobs passed away suddenly but peacefully at home in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Thursday July 29, 2021. Devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, and pastor, she was 49 years old.
Dolly was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a member and later served as youth minister at Saint Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church in New Orleans. A proud Auburn Tiger, she later earned her divinity degree at Austin Theological Seminary in Austin, Texas. She accepted her first call to ministry at First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro where she served as associate pastor for 18 years. Dolly loved “girl time” with her daughters, “beach time” at Bald head Island and Sunset Beach, Mardi Gras in New Orleans, the Youth Conference at Montreat in Black Mountain, North Carolina, and back porch and quiet time with her husband and Luke the lab.
Dolly was preceded in death by her grandparents, Judy and Corbin Turpin, and her mother, Lucy Turpin King. Adored by her family, congregation, and many members of the New Orleans and Greensboro community, Dolly is survived by: her husband Bill Jacobs, her daughters, Sydney and CeCe Hunt, her Pop, Charlie King and his wife Roma, her siblings, Chip Campbell, Betsy Campbell, and Kerri Simon, and Bill’s children and grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro on Sunday, August 15th at 10am and may be live streamed through www.fpcgreensboro.org.
