Darrell was born and raised in Greensboro, NC. He was a proud Grimsley High School graduate and an alumnus of his beloved NC State where he was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. In his youth, Darrell was an active member of First Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC.
Darrell fought cancer in a way like his loved ones have never seen. He never complained, he always had the best attitude and this stayed true until the very end. If you ever had the pleasure to run into him during his illness you would have never known the battle he was fighting.
Darrell loved watching NC State football, basketball and any other sport The Pack was playing. He was an avid sports fan in general, cheering on the Panthers and Atlanta Braves.
Darrell never met a stranger. He was beyond kind hearted and would give you his shirt off his back. Darrell had friends from across the state whom he adored and held close to his heart. Darrell’s large extended family meant the world to him and all of the support from his many aunts, uncles and cousins truly kept him upbeat and positive.
