Cory Lee Blakley, 53, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at his home in Reidsville, NC on Friday, March 21, 2025. He was born October 3, 1971 to the late Robert Lee “PaPa Chop” Blakley and Sarah (Walton) Briles. He is survived by his son, Cory Dakoda Blakley (Cheyenne) of Greensboro, NC, son, Dominick Wyatt Reed of Greensboro, NC, daughter, Braelyn Cheyenne Craddock-Blakley of the home; two brothers, Robert Conway Blakley (Chelsea) of Greensboro, NC and Johnny Ray Yow (Della) of Reidsville, NC; three grandsons, Landon Gage Izaiah Blakley, A. J. Escoto, Jr., and Jaxton Lee Blakley. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was a 1990 graduate of Rockingham County Senior High School where he played on the football team. He was employed as a maintenance supervisor at Guilford Mills in Greensboro, NC until they closed, and later worked as a siding installer until his retirement 10 years ago due to health issues.
He was a born again child of God and attended Fairview Baptist Church in Reidsville, NC. He loved the Lord first and foremost, but his family was his life blood. He was happiest when spending time with his big brother “Bear” whom he loved beyond measure, and when supporting his daughter, Braelyn, at her chorus events and his eldest grandson, Landon, at his sporting events. He enjoyed sports and supported the Carolina Tar Heels when watching games with his son, Dominick and his brother, Johnny. He also enjoyed working with his son, Cody, from time to time when installing siding and windows, and enjoyed playing with his grandsons, Jaxton and A J!.
Cory will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Your mama loves you, Cory Lee Blakley, and will always cherish our trips to the beautiful Smoky Mountains of Tennessee! A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
