A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, 7/13/13 at St. Pius X Catholic Church by Monsignor Anthony Marcaccio. St. Pius X will be providing lunch after the Mass. A private burial will follow at Westminster Gardens.
Chris was born April 15, 1991 in Greensboro, the son of David C. Westmoreland and Cynthia (Cindy) Leitner Westmoreland.
Chris was a graduate of Southeast High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society, the National Technical Honor Society, and the Dean’s List. He was also voted Most Valuable Player of the Southeast High School Soccer Team during his senior year. Chris attended NC A&T and was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church where he was very active in the Youth Group. Chris was a huge UNC Tarheel fan and was an ACC Wheelchair volunteer for 9 years. Chris was employed by the Grand Theatre for over three years and loved every minute. The staff and management of the Grand were so supportive of Chris throughout his illness, even coordinating a fundraiser that raised enough funds to purchase a van and motorized wheelchair for his transportation.
Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, J.C. and Jessie Westmoreland and his uncle, Tim Westmoreland.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Greensboro are his sister, Kara Ostlund (Neil) of Salisbury; brothers, Brian Westmoreland (Kristie) of Plano, TX, niece and nephew, Payton and Brett Westmoreland; and Jeremy Westmoreland (Ashley) of Graham; maternal grandparents, Ronald (PaPa) and Emarita (MeeMee) Leitner of Greensboro; and a very special friend, Holly Barber of Greensboro; numerous extended family.
Friends will be received Friday night, 7/12/13, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Pius X for the Chris Westmoreland Endowment Fund at P.O. Box 13588, Greensboro, NC 27415. Checks should be made out to St. Pius X.
