He attended High Point College (University) and graduated in 1957 with a degree in Accounting. He served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959 while stationed in White Sands, New Mexico. He then moved to Greensboro, NC and began his career at Piedmont Financial/Richardson Corp, He worked his way up thru the accounting department to the position of Comptroller and retired in 2001.
Charles was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humor. His favorite pastime was watching sports especially Duke basketball and Atlanta Braves. He also enjoyed traveling and saltwater fishing. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sisters: Ruby Hooft, Mabel Newman, Edna Lane, brothers: Tommy Whichard, Jimmy Whichard, and Terry Whichard and parents Thomas and Hattie Whichard.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years Jannis Jones Whichard, daughters Julie Breneman, Wendy (Ross) Heins, Amy (Matt) Smith, and Joy Whichard, grandchildren: Celina Breneman, Ryan (Kate) Heins, Jase Heins, and Peyton Smith, brother: Raymond Whichard
A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Monday, July 15, 2024 at St Pius X Church followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. 2210 N. Elm Street, Greensboro, NC. 27408
