Charles was born on Dec. 8, 1933, in Guilford County, the son of Jack and Magnolia Amos Ingram. While he was in high school, he met and fell in love with his wife of 61 years, Shirley Kincaid Ingram. Charles worked with and retired from the Canteen Corporation.
After retirement, Charles was diagnosed with COPD, This diagnosis changed his life and he dedicated himself to living healthier and helping others do that as well. He became a “poster child” of Cardiopulmonary Rehab and volunteered for five years encouraging and coaching others at Cone Hospital. Charles loved the Lord, his family, and the time he was able to spend with them.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Shirley of the home; son, Franklin James Ingram and wife Susan of Greenville, NC; daughters, Teresa Ward and husband Bud of Jamestown, NC and Debbie Piper and husband Tony of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Lesley Ingram, Megan Ingram, Sarah Ingram, Cortni Hill and husband Jimmy, April Farrah and husband Brian, Lauren Piper and Justin Piper; great grandchildren, Austin Hill, Colby Hill, Davis Hill, Wyatt Hill and Chloe Hohn
The family would like to thank Cone Hospital for their loving care and service and especially Dr. Clance and his colleagues for their dedication and care over the last 16 years.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, 11:00 a.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with burial to follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pulmonary Rehab Unit at Cone Hospital, 1200 N. Elm Street, Greensboro, NC 27405 or Crossover Community Church, 723 Knightdale Road, High Point, NC 27263.
