Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407. He will be laid to rest immediately following the service in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 1:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the funeral service.
Cecil was born September 26, 1943 in Greensboro to the late Ocie and Virginia Pollard. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. Cecil was a loyal member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a Deacon, taught Sunday School and enjoyed praising The Lord by singing in the church choir. He worked for Gibbs Machine Shop and later retired from Dixie Machine and Tool. After retiring, he loved nothing more than keeping a well manicured yard and maintaining his beautiful flowers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Pollard; brother, Ocie Pollard, Jr.; and sister, Mary Ellen Johnson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 61 years, Estelle; daughter, Kathy Venable (Mike), son, Jim Pollard (Karen); four grandchildren, Stephen Venable (Danielle), Christopher Venable (Noel), James Pollard and Katie Pollard; seven great-grandchildren, Graycen, Harper, Weston, Bryce, Ella, Phoebe and Allie; brothers, Marvin Pollard (Mary) and Robert Pollard; his life-long friend, Jack Canter; and other extended family and friends.
