Bobby Lee Varner

Born on July 21, 1934 in Greensboro, he was the son of the late Barney Archie Varner and Daisy Dunn Varner. Bobby retired from Cone Mills and was a member of Sheldon Road Baptist Church. He was an active member of Sheldon Road Baptist and in his earlier years, he drove the church bus to pick up those that needed a ride to church. Bobby loved Jesus and when he was unable to attend church, he would listen to preaching on the radio. Bobby was a talented woodworker, house builder and mechanic and could fix anything. He loved his tractors and could be seen regularly at the Denton Farmpark. Those that knew and loved him would say he was the greatest man alive. He will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parent and wife, Bobby was preceded in death by his four siblings, Talmadge Varner, Pauline Manness, Virginia Stout and Billie Snow.

Bobby is survived by his 6 children, Teresa Hutchens (Edward), Bobby Lee Varner, Jr., Randy Varner (Janet), Sandra Worley (Phil), Ellie Roberts (Robin) and Ola Varner; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; his first wife and mother of his children, Norma Pelchat; and numerous other family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Chandler officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday prior to the service starting at 10 am.
