Bessie Elizabeth Martin

Bessie Elizabeth Martin, 102, went home to be with The Lord on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from Beacon Place.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 pm.

Bessie was born November 18, 1913 to the late Thomas and Mary Shropshire in Ridgeway, VA and was of the Christian faith. She retired from Cone Mills after many years of employment. Bessie enjoyed gardening, cooking, meeting new people, and loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; and all of her siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory are numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family.
