Arlene Elizabeth Winslow Martin, a resident of Thomasville was born September 1, 1944 in Greensboro the daughter of Winford and Grace Sheets Winslow Sr. She went to see Jesus at 5:30 am Friday morning November 23, 2012. Arlene was a graduate of Ragsdale Senior High School in Jamestown. Her greatest wish was that her life would be used to glorify God and lead others to salvation. She told everyone she met about “My Jesus” her personal savior. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman. People she met knew that there was something different about her simply by being around her. She lived by God’s word and anxiously anticipated the time she would see HER Lord. She reminded those around her many times of Isaiah 26:3 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee”. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents: one son, Mark Owensby and a stepson, David Ray Martin. She is survived by two brothers: Winford Winslow, Jr. of Greensboro, Wayne Winslow of Concord. She has been married to William (Bob) Robert Martin, Sr. of Thomasville since 1971. Her children are, Teresa Anne Owensby Saucedo and husband Vick of Thomasville, William Robert Martin, Jr. and wife Yvonne of Asheboro, Michael Manley Martin, Sr. and wife Brandi of Thomasville, Dawn Elizabeth Martin Essick and husband James of Trinity, Stepdaughter, Lillian Annette Martin Baxley and husband Alan. They all knew her to be a “virtuous woman” (Proverbs 31). She was blessed with nine grandchildren: Valerie Nicole Martin, Kathleen Elizabeth Martin, Michael Manley Martin, Jr., Angela Kennedy, Roger Dale Boone, Christopher Lee Essick, James Ray Love III, Lindi Baxley, and Michelle Baxley.
