Anne Rigby Pierce

Anne was born on February 16, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, PA.

Anne had a love of gardening and nature; she was an avid reader, fabulous cook and She was totally devoted to her family.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lawrence Rigby of Philadelphia, PA, her sister, Ms. Mary Rigby Hungerford Mott of Chicago, IL and her brother, Mr. Harry Neely Rigby of New York, NY.

She is survived by her sons Mr. Howard Rigby Pierce (Cindy) of Clinton, SC and Mr. William Luther Pierce IV (Holly) of Greensboro, NC and her grandchildren, Mr. Howard Brooks Pierce (Charlotte, NC), Miss Bess Rigby Pierce (Dublin, Ireland), and Mr. Charles Cunningham Pierce (Tampa, FL). In addition, Anne leaves behind her dear friend, caregiver, and companion Nancy Gainey. The family sincerely wishes to thank Dr. William F. Hopper and Dr. Thomas C. Wall for their loving healthcare support and friendship.

A private family graveside service, officiated by Rev. John Willett, was held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice honoring those less fortunate.
