Funeral services will be held at eleven o’clock on Sunday, October 21st, 2018 at Beth David Synagogue, 804 Winview Drive, Greensboro, North Carolina. Interment will follow in Greensboro Hebrew Cemetery with military rites accorded by the United States Naval Honor Guard.
Albert was born in Asheville, North Carolina to Isaac and Esther Jacobson. He graduated from University of North Carolina on a Naval ROTC scholarship. He served in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He established his own CPA practice in 1950 in Greensboro and continued practicing until his ninetieth birthday. Albert was an active member of Beth David Synagogue and was twice president of The Greensboro Jewish Federation as well as president of Blumenthal Home for the Aged.
He was married for forty-four years to Florence Weinstein. After her death in 1995, Albert shared his next ten years with Anna Lou Cassell and following her death in 2004, the next ten with Rhoda Fleisher, until her death in 2014.
Survivors include his children, Berry and Richard Zander; Michael and Barbara Frank Jacobson; Steven and Nancy Jacobson; grandchildren, Karen (Jason) Spiegler, Nicki (Eric) Tamarkin, Rachel Zander, Sam Jacobson, Rosie Jacobson and Sarah Jacobson; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Ethan, Sarina, Samira and Asher; sister, Florence Rosenberg; sister-in-law, Maxine Weinstein; many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Beth David Synagogue, The Greensboro Jewish Federation or University of North Carolina Hillel.
