Willis Ray Shanks, 80, of Crimson Lane, Chuckey, passed away Monday, October 23, 2017, at Durham-Hensley Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was retired.
Mr. Shanks attended Wesleyan Bible Tabernacle.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years: Carolyn M. Shanks; three sons and a daughter-in-law: Darrell and Elaine Shanks, Mark Shanks, and Jason Shanks; daughter: Diana Fillers; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Walter and Karen Painter and Johnny Painter; four sisters and a brother-in-law: Linnia Anne Painter, Axie and Bob Nelson, Virginia Fellers, and Elizabeth Thompson; grandchildren: Joshua Brown, Lisa Sams, Carolyn Starnes, Eric Brown and Chandra Henson; 16 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son: Roger Shanks; grandson: Sammy Shanks; mother: Ruth Painter; brother: Charles Mathes; sister: Marie Nelson; and brother: Warren Painter.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Wesleyan Bible Tabernacle with Rev. Bill Swope and Rev. Clinton Ryder officiating. The body will lie in state for one hour before the service.
Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Chris Murdock, Joey Sams, Bradley Thompson, Aaron Angel, Jacob Brown, and Mark Ryder.
Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Thompson, David Knight, Timmy Stimmer, Frankie Trantham, Chad Starnes, and his church family.
