He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 42 years of service.
Mr. Ward was a member of First Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge #3.
He served with the U.S. Coast Guard for two years.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Linda and Don Kirk; and a son and daughter-in-law: Duane and Sherry Ward.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Faye Norton Ward; parents: Elbert and Annie Crowder Ward; two sisters: Lorie Davis and Hilda Young; two brothers: Warren Ward and Wendell Ward; and a special nephew: W.C. Ward.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
A Masonic Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel followed by the funeral service officiated by Rev. Joey Tillery.
Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Danny Lawing, David Pabst, Sonny Drake, Fay Bird, J.C. Jones, Jack Rice, and Jim Gosnell.
Honorary pallbearers are John Cox, Leon Brown, Johnny Swatzell, Ricky Parvin, Royce Peterson, Bill Moncier, and his numerous special friends.
