Randy was a proud veteran and a fixture at the Jonesborough Flea Market where he loved to buy and sell. He also enjoyed fishing and camping with family and friends. He loved working on cars and was known for his ability to fix anything.
Randy graduated from Greeneville High School in 1968. After graduating, he enlisted for service in the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked as a maintenance technician at Weavexx, where he retired after 30 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and attended Pine Springs Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Wilmer and Willie Mae Bishop Conner; sister: Mary Etta Conner; and infant sister: Ina Lee Conner.
He is survived by his wife: Barbara Conner; son: Ben Conner; daughter and son-in-law: Kristen and Neal Blair; beloved grandson: Daniel Blair; sister and brother-in-law: Sandra and Michael Justis; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Danny and Ola Faye Conner and Tommy and JoAnn Conner; father-in-law: Herbert Wills; nieces and their spouses: Michelle and Ron Fitzsimmons, Whitney and Jacob Hause, Chelsey and Taylor Smith; niece: April Taylor; nephew Jonathan Justis; and numerous special friends.
There will be no formal visitation per his request. Family and friends are asked to meet at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home at 2:00 pm Sunday to go in procession to GreeneLawn Memory Gardens for a 3:00 pm graveside service. Rev. Gerald Tarlton will officiate.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jonesborough Flea Market friends, former coworkers of Weavexx, and members of Pine Springs Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aidnet of Greene County, organizations supporting veterans, or other charitable organizations in Randy’s memory.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Joseph Kretschmar and staff of Ballad Health Gastroenterology, Dr. Dharmen Patel and staff of Tennessee Cancer Specialists, Dr. Rufus Breckenridge and staff of The Doctor’s Office, first responders with Greene County EMS, doctors and staff of Ballad Health and DaVita, and doctors and staff of Holston Valley Medical Center.
Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard Honor Team will conduct a military graveside service.
Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
