He retired from TRW Ross Gear Division and served in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Voiles was a commissioner of Philmont Council District of the Boy Scouts of America in Mexico; a past president of the Blind and Visually Impaired; an outstanding member of TRW Fire Brigade; and Scout Master of Troop 99.
He received the Pioneer Award and the Silver Beaver Award. He was an avid Scouter.
Mr. Voiles was a member of Carter's Chapel United Methodist Church.
He lived his life for the Lord and was an inspiration to those with whom he came in contact.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Willie and Janet D. Voiles of the Rheatown Community; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law: Jodi D. and Nathan R. Higgins of the Rheatown Community; a great-grandchild: Austin R. Higgins of Rheatown; a twin sister: Pauline Garber; sisters-in-law: Joyce Swatzell, Louise and Harold Shelton and Frankie Uhe; several nieces and nephews; and his special caregivers: Vickie Crigger, Teresa Fann, and the staff at Amedisys.
The family expressed a special thanks to the rehab center at Signature Heath.
He was the son of the late Roy and Violet (Bryant) Voiles of Bulls Gap and was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years: Nellie M Voiles; a granddaughter: Tammy Voiles Brooks; brothers: Floyd, Emory, Monroe, and Clyde Voiles; and sisters: Ina Lee Burchell of Morristown, and Cordilla Voiles and Mollie L. Voiles.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 8 p.m. Monday in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel.
The Rev. Mark Wills, Chaplain David Snyder and the Rev. Richard Long will officiate.
Friends and family are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to Graceland Memorial Gardens for an 11 a.m. graveside service.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Higgins, Jeremy Shelton, Roy Lee Voiles, Joe W. Riley Jr., Wayne Shelton and Blaine Shelton.
