He was a fruit stand operator and antique trader.
Mr. Haney was of the Church of God faith. He loved to witness to others about the Lord and how he came to be a Christian. In his early years, he was known as one of the best card players in Greene County, but he was quick to say, “the best hand he was ever dealt was when he was dealt the hand of the Lord.”
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Michael and Debbie Haney of Greeneville; one daughter: Kimberly Michelle Haney of Greeneville; two grandchildren: Patrick Key and Jared Wilkerson; a sister: Charlsie Neas of Afton; several nieces and nephews; and special friends: Clara Schrock and Dougie Willett.
He was the son of the late Thomas Spencer Haney and Bertha Greenway Haney and was preceded in death by his ex-wife: Jane Haney Gosnell, whom he credited to leading him to the Lord; two brothers: Jack Haney and Thomas Spencer Haney, Jr.; and five sisters: Emma Dee Neas, Mary Ellen Haney, Auna Lowery, Ellouise Seddon, and Ruby Wilson.
The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
There will be a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Upper Paint Creek Cemetery with Rev. Lynn Neas officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at noon Sunday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery for the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
