Joe Bob Sexton, 70, of the Newport Highway, Greeneville, passed away Sunday at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.
He had been employed by Weavexx and Mike Lamb Trucking.
Mr. Sexton attended Hunts Chapel United Methodist Church and Cedar Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
He was an avid farmer and a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years: Brenda Headrick Sexton of Greeneville; his daughter: Diane Gibson and her husband, Jason, of Greeneville; his grandson: Dawson Gibson; a brother: Bill Sexton and his wife, Lillian, of Mosheim; his sisters-in-law: Tootie Derry Sexton of Greeneville, Hazel Alley of Weber City, Va., Freida Bible and her husband, Ray, Jean Ward and her husband, Marvin, of Greeneville, and Beulah Sizemore and her husband, Max, of Greeneville; a brother-in-law: Lecile Headrick and his wife, Jean, of Chuckey; an aunt: Pauline Hayes; nephew: Chris Sexton and his wife, Donna; nephew: Donnie Sexton; niece: Rebecca Nye; nephew: Freddie Bible and his wife, Linda; niece: Lisa Kindle and her husband, Jimmy; nephew: Jerry Headrick and his wife, Meta; two special great-nephews, who helped take care of him: Matthew and Spencer Nye; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Lucy Sexton, and a brother, Connie Mack Sexton.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with interment in Hunts Chapel Cemetery. Chaplain Mary Jane Farmer, the Rev. Sam Smith, the Rev. Richard Snowden, and the Rev. Casey Nicholson will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Ward, Herbert Waddell, Charlie Odom, Mike Lamb, Dennis Anderson, and J.L. Phillips.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staffs of Life Care Center of Greeneville, Laughlin Memorial Hospital 4-West, and Smoky Mountain Hospice; his friends and neighbors; and Dr. Maynard Austin
