He was a native of Greene County. He was a farmer and served in World War II as a mechanic in the Army Air Force in the European Theatre.
He attended Gethsemane United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his three children and spouses: Debbie and Haden Scott, Donna and Rae Hill, and Bruce and Sheila Cox; eight grandchildren: George, Elizabeth, Haden Lynn, Tosha, Kristi, Brian, April and Brittany; 15 great grandchildren: Kiley, J.T., A.J., Jordan, Isaac, Grayson, Katie, Nicholas, Caroline, Charlotte, Brewer, Ellis, Wyatt, Nathan, and Morgan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Cora Radar, Dollie Frye, Franklin and Medra Justice; special aunt: Lucille Harrison; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by is parents, Alonzo and Nellie Cox, and his wife of 60 years, Mary Cox.
The family would like to especially thank his caregivers: Judith and Ronnie Franklin, Mary, Deloris, and Misty for the loving care they gave him.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tyler Rutherford officiating.
Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the committal service.
Pallbearers will be George, Haden Lynn, Brian, Lucas, Nathan, Wyatt, and Ronnie Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gethsemane United Methodist Church.
