“If you ever had the privilege of meeting my little brother Dustin, then you know what a treasure he was. His thoughts were complex and scholarly, it was impossible to outpace his empathy, and his heart was vastly full of kindness, gentleness, and forgiveness. Dustin somehow made anyone he spoke to feel welcome, at home, and valid. I remember waiting for him to reach the phase where he didn’t want to be seen with me in public as a teen, but it never came—he only ever exuded love and a genuine want to spend time together. Dustin was both an avid reader and excellent gamer. Be it nerf wars, Bananagrams, or Smash Bros, he was a formidable opponent who relished the opportunity for a competitive challenge. His cleverness was unmatched—he gave out witty comebacks as easily as breathing, and possessed the rare ability to elicit a chuckle out of anybody. To know him was to love him.” -Kaylea
