He worked at Delmonte in Illinois. He farmed and retired from Magnavox. He loved to ride around in his truck with his dog and talk to his friends. He also loved to hunt arrowheads and watch baseball.
He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Evelyn Kite; sons and daughters-in-law: Mickey and Debra Jo Kite and Stanley and Jackie Kite, all of Greeneville; daughters and son-in-law: Cheryl and Scott Maxwell of Mosheim and Sandra Kite Roberts of Atlanta, Georgia; grandson: Josh Kite of Greeneville; great granddaughters: Cambree Kite and Evie Kite of Greeneville; brother and sister-in-law: Bee and Deloris Kite of Morristown; sisters: Earnestine Myers, Imogene Sams, and Reeda Faye Hartman of Greeneville, and JoAnn Birchfield of Morristown; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; special friend: Buddy (Andy) Roberts of Church Hill; and his special dog, “Sissy”.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence W. Kite and Frances Carter Kite; two sisters: Gladys Gordon, Naomi Sharp; and brother: Buddy Kite.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Charles Lindy and Rev. Eddie Malone officiating.
Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Willoughby Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Glen Ward, Russell Keller, Klu Kite, Dusty Kite, Buddy (Andy) Roberts, and Josh Kite.
Honorary pallbearers are J.B. Wills, Edmond Carter, Darin Kite, Bill Smelcer, Grover Jones, and special friends from Mt. Carmel Community.
The family extend a special thanks to Jackie Kite and Debra Jo Kite for being special caregivers and to Zonya Cureton of Caris Hospice.
