She was a retired school teacher and a member of Hunts Chapel United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Burns was so well thought of by her students. This kept her going as they included her, in
her later years, in activities and by calling and visiting her often. She was a strong Christian lady
who practiced her faith and was spiritually prepared to meet her Lord.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Tommy and Jeanne Burns of Greeneville; a daughter and son-in-law: Becky and Wayne Erwin of Lebanon, Tenn.; grandchildren and spouses: Joel and Jody Burns, Justin and Jessica Burns, Walt and Sara Erwin, David and Tara Erwin; great grandchildren: Grayson Burns, Lawson Burns, Simon Burns, Kaylie Burns, Mackenzie Burns, Lily Erwin, Will Erwin and Wyatt Erwin; one sister: Beulah Myers of Greeneville; sister-in-law: Maxine Easterly of Greeneville; very special friend: Tommy Carroll; special caregiver: Phyllis Laster; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and an abundance of friends.
She was the daughter of the late Joe E. and Wilma Easterly and was preceded in death by her
husband, Carl “Pete” Burns; a grandson, Wayne Erwin, Jr.; two sisters, Helen Hogan and Susie
Barger; two brothers, Joe Bob Easterly and Sam Easterly.
The funeral service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Hunts Chapel UM Church.
Joel Burns and Sam Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Hunts Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Lintz, Randy Lintz, Ryan Holt, Don Sauceman, Danny Myers and Jerry Laughlin.
The family wished to express a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Brad Strange and staff and to the 3rd floor nurses at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
