She was employed by Philips C.E.C. (Magnavox) for over 50 years. She later worked for Greene County Skills as a work coach.
Betty was a member of Lick Creek Valley Freewill Baptist Church where she attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. She was always helping others and was loved dearly by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years: Howard “Bug” Burger; four sisters: Ann Hussey and Wilma Jackson of Mosheim and Jane Jeffers and Pat Southerland of Greeneville; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Alfred and Martha Franklin of Mosheim and Bob and Brenda Franklin of Greeneville; one uncle: Albert Foshie and spouse Geneva of Greeneville; one aunt: Lillie Foshie of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends: Judy Franklin and Wanda Cox.
She had no children but was mother to many, including two foster children, Cody Hinkle and Cole Johnson of the home.
She was the daughter of the late Joe Cephus and Nina Foshie Franklin.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2012 in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Michael Mack officiating.
Interment will follow in Mosheim Central Cemetery.
Her pallbearers will be Wesley Burgess, Mike Seaton, Howard Cutshall, Mike Martin, Dustin Laughlin, and Bradley Laughlin.
Tony Martin, Josh Martin, Eddie Martin, Timothy Sexton, Timothy Southerland, and Bill Jeffers will serve as honorary pallbearers.
