Alfred Eugene Carter

Mr. Carter was a member of Hartman’s Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a humble man who loved his family. He was a quiet and soft-spoken man with a contagious smile. He was a farmer who loved to watch things grow. While we mourn his death, we also celebrate his life and the impact he had on those who knew him.

Survivors include his beloved daughter and son-in-law: Lisa and Mike Johnson of Bristol, TN; grandchildren: Lucas Johnson of Bristol, TN, Matt and wife, Ashley, Croy of Greeneville, TN and Heather Croy of Greeneville, TN, and their father James Croy: great grandchildren: Bailey Croy and Skylar Smith; sisters: Idell and husband, Willie Burnette of Mosheim, TN, Shirley and husband, Loyd Golden of Mosheim, TN; brothers: Rex Carter of Greeneville, TN and Ken and wife, Rita Carter of Bybee, TN; sisters-in-law: Lillian Carter of Greeneville, TN and Ellen Carter of Mosheim, TN; brother-in-law: Buddy Hawk of Mosheim, TN; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends, including longtime trout fishing buddy and best friend, Clifford Brown, Barbara Carter, Janie Fincher and Teresa Short.

Mr. Carter was the son of the late Crawford and Edna Solomon Carter. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Jean Fincher Carter, sisters: Irene Rupert, Mary Seay and Patsy Hawk; brothers: Jack Carter, Bill Carter, Tom Carter, George Carter, John Carter, and Wayne Carter; sisters-in-law: Shirley Ann Carter, Naomi Carter, and Phyllis Carter; and brothers-in-law: Bill Rupert and Homer Seay.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to caregivers Michelle, Lisa, Linda, Becca and Carrie and the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home in Greeneville, TN from 5-8 p.m.

The funeral will follow on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Hartman’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Mosheim, TN, with Reverends John Grimm and Jim Fain officiating.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday for the processional to Hartman’s Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Croy, Lucas and Wes Johnson, Ralph and Ernest Carter, Kevin and Mike Fincher and Chad Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hartman’s Chapel Class 5.
