Robert Stanley Perkins

Born October 13, 1931 in Parke County, IN the son of William Oscar and Jessie Hazel (Wood) Perkins and was a graduate of Greencastle High School “Class of 1949”. Robert served nine years in the National Guard, enlisting when he was seventeen.

He retired from IBM in 1987 after 29 ½ years, working as a plant manager and press operator He also worked as a carpenter during this time. He had previously worked for the Omar Bread Company with a route in Terre Haute and the Coca Cola Company, Greencastle. He was a member of the International Woodworkers Assn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Kevin Perkins; and brother Woody Porter.

Robert is survived by his wife Betty J. (Nelson) Perkins; children Steve (Joni) Perkins, Cindy Perkins, Roger Perkins, Rebecca (Brian) Hoffeditz, Jeffrey Perkins, Barbara (Mike) Samsel and Glenda (Kerry) Couts; a brother Bill Perkins; six grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
