Marilyn Joan Gough, 90, of Greencastle, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 after a short illness.
She was born November 15, 1927 in Greencastle, the daughter of Leo F. and Reggie E. (Brown) Cox and was a graduate of Greencastle High School “Class of 1945”. She married George Thomas Gough on July 12, 1946. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1996, prior to George’s death in 2000.
Marilyn was a homemaker and served as a volunteer with several community organizations. She was a member of the Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church; active member of the Red Hats and “Noodle” groups, as well as a longtime volunteer of the Putnam County Hospital Guild.
When Marilyn celebrated her 90th birthday last November, the large number of friends, family, and neighbors who helped mark this special day demonstrated the love and community support that allowed her to live an independent and full life until the end. Her son and daughter in-law thanks the community for this.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Gough and his wife, Paula Jones, of Bloomfield, CT., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister Evelyn Cox Gordon, and two brothers, Donald and Norman Cox.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Gobin Memorial UMC. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service on Saturday.
In an act of kindness a memorial gift may be made in Marilyn’s memory to the Gobin Transformers or the donor’s favorite charity.
