Joyce was born October 13, 1939 to Henry and Helen Ewing in Greencastle, IN.
Joyce was in the graduating class of 1957 at Greencastle High School. She worked in banking for over 30 plus years. She and her husband Larry Leer are best known in the community for their whimsical birdhouses and other artwork depicting Putnam County landmarks. Their birdhouses and other works of art have been on display at the Putnam County Museum and enjoyed by people around the globe.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Larry Leer; her parents; a granddaughter Kathleen Brown; and a brother Charles Ewing.
Joyce is survived by her children Allison Leer (Tom Silvey), Beth Anne Brown, Chris Leer, and Julie Leer; two siblings Cheryl Salsman (Gary), and Jeannine Hoopingarner; grandson Tom Brown (Courtney); great-granddaughter Ramona Brown; and many grand-dogs.
A private family burial will be held at a later date.
