Jody Lynn Miner Creek Smith, 58, of Greencastle, passed away Thursday March 7, 2013, in her home surrounded by her family. Jody was born June 24, 1954 to John and Patricia (Jarrett) Miner. She lived most of her childhood in the Indianapolis area. She graduated from John Marshall High School in 1972. She went on to attend Marion College and IUPUI. Jody married Tony Creek on July 13, 1973. They later divorced. She then married Brian W. Smith on January 3, 1986. They shared 27 devoted years of marriage. Jody loved her family. She loved her dog, Spanky. Jody loved her life and had many talents and hobbies, including racing, football, reading, sewing, and crafts. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. She was dedicated and well-respected at her job, working 16 years at Richmond Exteriors in Indianapolis. Jody was a trusted friend and role model to many, always kind, generous, and fair. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Jody is survived by her husband, Brian W. Smith, her mother, Patricia Miner, her sister, Jackie (David) Buttram, her brother, John (Monica) Miner, her daughters, Tracy Creek, Kelly (Dave) Avenatti, and Brady Little, her grandchildren, Davey Avenatti IV, Ivy Avenatti, Jamie Creek, and Payton Turner, her aunt and uncle, Marcia and Jeff Harmon, her sister-in-law, Sharon (Al) Paterno, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jody was preceded in death by her father. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 1:00pm at First Christian Church in Greencastle. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Putnam County Humane Society.
