Born January 7, 1946 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Wendell Shaw Vermillion and Nettie Oval (Duncan) Vermillion Pettit.
He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion.
Jerry was an electrician with Vermilion Electric for several years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Greencastle.
Jerry is survived by his son, Eric Vermillion & girlfriend, April Kunce; a daughter, Sherry Vermillion & boyfriend, David Pettit; brothers, Ronnie Vermillion and Danny Vermillion; a sister, Debbie (Steve) Burke; five grandchildren, Abigail Vermillion, Carter Vermillion, Antony Byrd, Charles “Joey” Byrd, Tessa Johnson; four great grandchildren, Travis Byrd, Lana Byrd, Paisley Johnson, Bentley Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Mother, and a brother, Steve Ray Vermilion.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, November 20, 2020 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Military honors will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
