Virginia Beth Stoddard, 90, of Larkspur, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023. Virginia was born on January 15, 1933, in Garfield County, Nebraska. She was the daughter of the late Hank Struckman and May Elizabeth Struckman.
She attended a small country school until her sophomore year and then began attending high school in Ord, Nebraska. Virginia met and began dating her husband, Paul Stoddard, while in high school. Virginia went on to attend college at Nebraska Wesleyan University after graduating from high school. Virginia and Paul were married in December 1952. While Paul was enlisted in the Navy, Virginia traveled with him to his stations. Virginia and Paul settled in Greeley, Colorado and had five children. Virginia worked at the University of Northern Colorado in the ROTC program. She eventually transferred to work in UNC's counseling center and began her graduate studies. Virginia earned her master's degree in counseling in 1982 and co-owned Stoddard Funeral Home with her husband for many years. Virginia was regarded as the pioneer of the Greeley's Widows in Sisterhood support program where she provided counseling support for many in the community.
In 1999, Virginia retired and moved to Larkspur, Colorado with her husband, Paul.
Surviving is her husband of 70 years, Paul, children, Tom (Maria), John (Pam), Randy; and Julie. Virginia has 8 grandchildren Kevin (Lauren), Paula, Virginia (Ryan), Emily (Ethan), Rachel, Sarah, Brigette, and Rory; and 3 great grand children, Wesley, Dorothy and Noelle. She is preceded in death by her eldest son Michael.
A private family graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
