On September 26, 1935, Lyle was born in Silverton, Oregon to Elmer and Cecil (Hall) Elliott. Shortly after his birth his family moved back to Colorado. In 1941 he became a big brother to Verda. He grew up on his parent's farm and attended school in Greeley.
In 1957 he married Jane (Harrold) Elliott. They had 3 sons, Randy, Rusty and Rodney. This marriage ended in divorce in 1986. In 1989 he married Frances (Saathoff) Elliott.
He spent most of his working career with the City of Longmont, retiring after 30 years in 1998 as a project engineer.
He loved to go driving, whether on his Gold Wing motorcycle or in a car. Lyle and Frances traveled to every state in the US on his motorcycle. They also traveled to Ireland, England, Scotland, Canada, and Mexico.
He is survived by sons, Randy (Pat) Elliott of Dacono, Rusty (Kristal) Elliott of Fort Collins, and Rodney Elliott also of Fort Collins. Stepson Doug (Gena) Martin of Loveland and Stepdaughter Theresa (Doug) Dirkes also of Loveland. A sister, Verda (Andy) Bistline from Colorado Springs. 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, former wife, Jane Elliott of Fort Collins, and several nieces and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister (Eileen) and wife, Frances Elliott.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2021 in the fellowship hall of Trinity Lutheran Church, 3000 35th Ave, Greeley, Colorado. A luncheon will follow at 12:00 pm. Services will conclude at 2:00 p.m. with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 W. 28th Street, Greeley, Colorado.
