In 1956, he married Julie Lucero. They were married for 50 years. Mr. Ortega was a native of the Saguache area until 1972, when they moved to Greeley.
Mr. Ortega worked for Winograds, until he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Louie was loving, peaceful and strong. He enjoyed having conversations with family and friends. He was quite the philosopher.
Louie was blessed with six children, 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ortega died Sunday morning, July 30, 2017 at his home.
He is survived by his children, three sons and their wives, Henry and Sylvia, Curtis and Terri and Max and Angie all of Greeley, two daughters, Mary Ortega of Greeley and Margie O. and Juan Nolasco of Ft. Lupton, his brothers, Phillip, Johnny and Isadore Ortega and sister, Victoria Garcia.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2017 followed by Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Interment Evans Cemetery.
