She was born February 3, 1937 to Jacob and Naomi (Reifschneider) Fritzler in Windsor, Colorado. She spent her childhood growing up in the Greeley area and graduated from Greeley High School. She married her high school sweetheart George (Bob) Hirschfield in Greeley on August 5, 1956 after which they enjoyed 64 years of matrimony. Janice was primarily a homemaker, but also worked as a dental assistant and for Great Western Sugar Company. She was a member of St. Paul’s Congregational Church for many years. Family was central to Janice’s life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. She particularly enjoyed the times she was with family and friends. She liked to spend time site seeing in the Colorado mountains, walking and fishing.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Hirschfield, a son, Greg Hirschfield (and his wife Kenna) , one sister, Sylvia Doke (and her husband Bill), one brother-in-law, Bill Sanders, 4 grandchildren, and a great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her son David Hirschfield and her sister Kathy Sanders.
A visitation will be held on October 1, 2020 at 10:00 am at Allnutt Funeral Service – Macy Chapel, 6521 W. 20th Street, Greeley Colorado. This will be followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am and then a reception also at the Macy Chapel.
