James H. Dill left this world on November 30 to join his Lord and Savior in Paradise after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s. He died at Garden Square Assisted Living of Greeley where he was a residence since May of this year.
He was born on May 29, 1950 in Greeley to Harry LeRoy Dill and Ruth L. (Lind) Dill. Jim and his family farmed a mile north of Lucerne until 1969. Jim loved growing up on a farm and watching their sugar beets grow and thrive. He loved tractors and he and his dad restored several together. Jim attended Eaton schools and graduated from Eaton High School in 1968. He then attended Aims Community College and received a degree in electronics. From the beginning, Jim was intrigued with how things worked. He learned fast by dismantling radios, pocket watches, and televisions. His folks were always relieved when he managed to put things back together in working order. Jim was a collector of vintage toys, old tools, padlocks, and pocket watches. He was a member of the Antique Tool Collectors Club. He went on to work for the Fort St. Vrain Power Plant, Great Western Sugar Factory where he operated a loader, and worked for Greeley Lock and Key for many years. At one time Jim had a fix-it shop in east Greeley where he fixed clocks, watches, and TVs. He enjoyed every job that he had. Jim stopped working in 2005 to care of his aging parents. In 2009 Jim met the love of his life, Janice Chisholm, and they married in 2010. Jim was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Greeley. He was a devoted son, loyal friend, and loving husband. He is missed by his little dog, Otis O’Reilly.
