Carmen Solis, 94, of Greeley, went to be with the lord on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born on July 15, 1923 in Derry, New Mexico to Silvestre and Adela Carbajal.
When Carmen was a very young child her family moved to Colorado to work on the farms. Carmen met Daniel Solis and they married in 1940. They raised their 9 children here in Greeley. Daniel and Carmen were one of the founders of Our Lady of Peace. They even had their wedding rings placed in the foundation of the Church. They were married for 69 years before Daniel’s passing in 2009.
Family and faith were Carmen’s passions in life. She was able to sew by hand, quilt, crochet, and make a penny go a long way to provide for her family. Her children say that her cooking was the best. Carmen would teach each one of her children to be respectful and work hard for what they want. She loved to decorate with Sunflowers and Monarch butterflies.
During the end of her journey, her family did not leave her side. She was very much loved and Carmen will greatly be missed.
Carmen is survived by her daughters, Margaret (Eugene) Edmaiston, Jessie Theresa Solis, Evelyn Marie Solis, Elizabeth Ann (Louis) Segura and Betty Angela (Gilbert) Sifuentez; sons, Alfred (Viola), Rick (Maria De Luz Gonzales; long time soul mate), Michael Anthony (Judilee) and Daniel Jr. (Augustina) Solis; sister, Mary Carbajal Romero (Ben); brother, Paul Carbajal (Lupe) and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
