Alice was born in Long Beach, CA to Fred and Rowena (Nelson) Sinele.
She grew up in Rifle, CO until her family moved to Greeley, CO in 1942. Because of her love for twirling a Baton, she started “Twirling Terryetts” where she taught other young girls the art of Baton twirling. She traveled with them and entered several competitions, while holding the title of being the Undefeated State Champion Baton Twirler for five years!
Alice graduated from Greeley High and was the first female bank teller with First National Bank. She graduated from UCLA with a Master's in Mass Communications and worked for NBC in California in production for 10 years. She moved back to Greeley, CO because of her mother’s illness and started working at UNC as a recruiter of foreign exchange students. To overcome her fear of heights, she got her pilot’s license from Martian Aviation.
She married Joseph J. Hastings in 1972.They worked together building and operating a guest ranch, "Two Rivers," in Meeker CO, until the time of Joe's death in 1990. In 1978 she received her Real Estate/Broker license and eventually opened her own office in Windsor, CO acting as an Independent Broker with the GRI and CRS designation. Alice retired in 2011 from Real Estate after more than 30 years. She spent her last years with her husband, Ernest Martin, caring for him until his death on March 11, 2022.
Alice was an active member of the women’s PEO. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her animals. Alice loved playing cards and the piano, traveling, and horseback riding.
Alice is survived by her Daughter, Jan Davenport Kortje (Frank) of Henderson NV; two grandsons, Justin (Donita) Davenport of CO; Mark (Braun) Davenport of AZ; two Great Grandchildren, Clara and Joseph Davenport of CO and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two husbands, Joseph Hastings and Ernest Martin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greeley Humane Society in care of Stoddard Funeral Home.
Services for Alice will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W. 28th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80634. Following the Memorial Service will be an Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 W. 28th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80634.
