Wayne is survived by his son Mark; sister Irene Vaughan; daughter-in-law Bunny and husband Tim Long; granddaughters Amanda Howarth and husband Jake and Kimberly Cairns and husband Matt; great granddaughters Ayden and Kayleigh Howarth; numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by wife of 70 years, Betty; son Gary; parents Lester and Fern; brother Sherman; and sister Jean.
Wayne and Betty were both graduates of Grapevine High School and married on August 27, 1951. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany for a while during his service. After his military service, he was employed as a surveyor for the Texas Highway Department for several years. Opportunities are always around the bend and Wayne joined family business Tillery Sales Company as Warehouse Manager from 1960 until it sold to The Stephens Company in 1977. The Stephens Company realized the value of Wayne’s character and integrity and he continued with them until retiring in 1995.
He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, rodeos, westerns, working in the yard, gardening, but his biggest joys in life were God and family. There was no hiding this because his face lit up when talking about both. He embraced the teaching and wisdom of faith and would share with those wanting to learn. Wayne was a devoted and loving son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, family member, and friend to so many. As an active member of First Baptist Church Grapevine, he has served the Lord in many capacities including active Deacon for many years and then Deacon (retired) in the later years. Wayne lived by example and was a respected mentor for all.
Leonard “Wayne” Loges (Paw Paw) cannot be replaced. His sharp mind and accurate memory were strengths as our family historian for decades. We will cherish the memories and forever love and miss you. We lift you up and rejoice in “Absolutely a life well lived, Well done my good and faithful servant”.
