Jean Boland

It is with great sadness, yet with faith in God, that we mark the passing of Jean Boland of Southlake, TX. She is a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Jean, 86, is survived by her daughter Mary Ann Doran and her husband Tom Doran of Southlake, TX, her granddaughters Sarah Doran of Southlake, TX, Anna Leon and her husband Edgar Leon and their son Will of Southlake, TX. Jean, a 20 year Texas resident, was born in Malden, MA to Peter and Anna Tulianello of Italy. She attended and graduated from Cheverus All Girls Catholic High School in Malden. She married her husband Ed Boland, an Army veteran from Stoneham, MA in 1953. They enjoyed 44 years of marriage residing in Malden and Melrose, MA. Jean greatly enjoyed her nearly 40-year career in retailing at Jordan Marsh Co., which was subsequently made part of the Macy’s Department stores. Upon the death of her husband Ed, Jean moved to Southlake, TX where she became an integral part of the lives of her two grandchildren and, in most recent years, her great grandson. As a family, Jean and her children and grand children enjoyed sharing meals, family events and vacations together. “Grammy” had the joy of seeing Sarah and Anna grow up and her grandchildren were deeply devoted to her. In addition to her family life, Jean was an active participant in the Southlake Senior Center where she had many dear friends. She was also a member of several Senior Advisory Boards to the City of Southlake. One of Jean’s pleasures was hosting “Spanish Club” each week where she and friends spent time learning Spanish. Jean, a life long devoted Catholic, was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Community in Colleyville, TX. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her sister-in-law Elaine Riel and her husband George of central Florida. Jean had many nieces and nephews in Florida, Colorado, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Jean’s memory to: Holy Trinity Catholic School 3750 William D.
