James "Jim" Leon Moreland, age 68, of Flower Mound, Texas passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023. He was born December 22, 1954, in Roma, Texas. He is survived by his wife Connie Moreland, daughter Jennifer Moreland of Stillwater, Oklahoma, siblings Raymond Looper (brother) of Elizabethton, Tennessee, Ellen Moreland (sister) of Grapevine, Texas, Angel Ervin and Ron “Bubba” (sister and brother in law) of Irving, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father Raymond Leon Moreland, mother Ruby Lucille Moreland, and sisters Gayle Darlene McCommas and Nelda (Nell) May Lang.
When Jim was working at Churchill Freight Company, he fell in love with the new part-time office girl, Connie. They were married in August of 1990. Jim “Bobo” was a devoted husband, father, brother, and uncle. He loved his family dearly and loved spending time with his siblings, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, especially during holidays. He and Connie enjoyed going on vacation with his sister, Angel “Crickett”, and her husband Bubba.
His friends and family will remember him as a welcoming, friendly man with a warm smile and big hugs. Jim was in the freight business most of his life where he worked on the dock and spent most of his years as an OTR driver. He received an award for 25 years of accident free driving, then became owner/operator of Jim Moreland Trucking. His favorite part of driving was being able to see all the different sites in his travels. He retired from Saia Freight in 2018.
Jim enjoyed hunting (deer, elk, duck, and dove), fishing, and camping. His favorite place to hunt elk was in Colorado. He loved nature and enjoyed spending as much time as possible outdoors.
A memorial service for James "Jim" will be held Friday, March 31, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Directors, 523 S Main St, Grapevine, TX 76051.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
